We are the world’s largest military vehicle club and the only charity dedicated to the conservation of ex-military vehicles and so keeping our mechanical veterans alive.
Our members look after and restore a wide range of ex-military vehicles with origins in both the UK and overseas and from pre-World War One to the present day. They include the well-known jeep, tanks, transporters, lorries, ambulances, cars, Land Rovers, motorbikes, and even the humble folding push bike.
LOCAL AREAS -There is a network of 33 local MVT areas throughout the country, where like-minded people meet up, enjoy the hobby and offer mutual support to one another. They organise meetings, social events, road runs and events and many are active on social media.
EDUCATION -MVT members pay particular attention to the authenticity of vehicles, equipment and displays. Our events are of educational value for members of the public and we try to ensure that the younger generations are aware of our heritage and the debt we owe to all branches of the armed forces. All members are proud of the standard of their vehicles and this is reflected in the frequent requests for them for film and TV work.
EVENTS –The MVT and its members attend and organise a variety of shows both big and small across the U.K.,
We owe a debt of gratitude to all who fought for us, and still serve in the armed forces, so we can be free today.
Explmore presents – www.returnofalegend.com – A special project dedicated to fulfilling a promise to complete a full restoration of a legendary 1974 Land Rover Series 3. The same Series 3 that took Alec and Jan Forman across 40,000 miles, through 29 countries, in Europe, Africa, and Asia back in 1977. Their book, Strangers Like Angels – With a Devil or Two to Boot, tells the story of an original overland adventure when they experienced the delights of rugged landscapes and the beautiful and diverse cultures of the world. On their 14 month journey, they used only maps and a compass to navigate across the Sahara (twice), explore the central route of Afghanistan, and park at the highest point of the highest road in the world, in Ladakh.
explmore, a community driven adventure lifestyle brand, was founded on this story and operates with a passion to inspire, encourage, and curate life changing adventure. By spreading its mantra to explore more of the world, engage with others, and embrace global cultures – explmore believes that this will ensure a greater understanding — for each other and our precious planet — enabling progression.
Please gather around explmore’s booth to learn more about this special project, purchase a book and meet Charles Forman, the proud son of Alec and Jan Forman and founder of explmore.
